A blockchain explorer, also known as a block explorer, is software that uses APIs and data from blockchain nodes to reveal details of all transactions on a particular blockchain network. A block explorer presents this data in a centralized, easy-to-understand, and search format.

Block explorers can be used to view recent transaction history or activity on a specific blockchain network, e.g., Bitcoin. This software can also check a pending transaction's status and confirm when it gets recorded to a block in the blockchain.

A blockchain is a public ledger, and its block explorer is a convenient way to review all transaction activity on its network. Block explorers are especially useful for assessing the history of any wallet address on the blockchain, viewing blocks that have not yet been added to the network, determining whale activity on the network, and any other information related to the blockchain.
