Based on CoinTelegraph, Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has made its largest Bitcoin purchase, acquiring 619.7 BTC for nearly $60 million on December 23. This marks the firm's biggest single Bitcoin buy since it began investing in the cryptocurrency in May. The purchase was made as Bitcoin traded below $100,000, and it significantly increases Metaplanet's total Bitcoin holdings to 1,762 BTC, valued at approximately $168 million. The firm, often compared to the American Bitcoin-buying company MicroStrategy, reported a 310% BTC yield from October 1 to December 23. Metaplanet plans to establish Bitcoin accumulation and management as a formal business line, including loans and equity. The company's stock price rose 5% following the announcement, despite a 13% decline over the past week.
