As per U.Today, Ripple, a San Francisco-based blockchain company, has applied for the 'Ripple Custody' trademark in the United States. The application, which includes both downloadable and cloud-based software for safeguarding cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies, has been received by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). However, no examiner has been assigned yet, and the approval process may take several months. This move highlights Ripple's growing focus on its custody business, following its $250 million acquisition of Swiss custody firm Metaco in 2023. Ripple has also partnered with South Korean custodian BDACS to offer custody services for XRP and the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin. The global cryptocurrency custody market is projected to reach $100 billion within the next decade.
