Options Trading Guide

1. Enable Your Options Trading Account

1.1 To start trading options, access the options page through the product menu on the app’s homepage. Before you begin trading, you’ll need to pass the Options Knowledge Quiz and agree to the Options User Agreement. Once completed, your KuCoin Options Account will be activated, and you may start trading options according to your preferences.

 

1.2 After activating your Options Account, transfer USDT to it via Assets → Options Account → Transfer. You can also transfer more funds on the options order page.

 

2. Placing Orders and Opening Options Positions

2.1 Select the option contract you wish to trade, either in BTC/USDT or ETH/USDT. For this example, we’ll use BTC/USDT options. Choose whether you think the price of BTC/USDT will rise or fall, and predict your target price. KuCoin will then recommend various options products for you. You can also select options based on the different expiration dates listed below.

 

2.2 Once you've chosen your desired options contract, you’ll need to transfer funds from your other accounts before placing an order. After entering the quantity for the options contract you wish to purchase and confirming the details, the order will be placed. You can view a breakeven chart on the order page before placing your orders.

 

3. Viewing Positions and Closing or Exercising Options

You can view your current positions, past orders, and exercise history on the main options page. If you'd like to sell your options before the expiration date, simply close your position from the positions page to settle your profits.

If you do not close your position before the expiration date, the options you hold will be frozen at 07:00 (UTC) on the day of expiry for automatic exercise. Once the exercise is completed, you can find the details under Exercise History in the Options Orders tab.
