BYD has apparently canceled this year’s profit bonus. Under the PR head’s Weibo post, everyone is demanding the profit bonus. Around the end of September each year, the profit bonus typically starts to be distributed—it’s like an annual big red envelope. But this year, BYD is under significantly greater overall performance pressure: the parent company’s net profit for 2025 was RMB 32.619 billion, a year-over-year decline of about 19%. Therefore, this year’s bonuses will likely depend on the actual profits of the group and its business units—loss-making divisions may receive little or nothing. The calculation is fairly straightforward: Base units × Value per unit × Individual performance coefficient E-level employees typically receive 5–7 units; F-levels decrease according to F1/F2/F3; G-level and below generally receive nothing. Over the past two years, the value per unit has ranged from RMB 7,000 to 14,000—possibly higher on the manufacturing side. Performance coefficients can reach 1.6 for outstanding, 1.2 for good, and 0.8 for satisfactory. So, for an E-level employee with 6 units: - With average performance: roughly RMB 72,000 - With outstanding performance: theoretically up to RMB 96,000 In other words, this year, simply relying on seniority won’t cut it—your performance and the profitability of your business unit matter more. Anyone here at BYD? How much did you get last year? What percentage do you think you’ll get this year? 😂
